Mikkel is a smooth and goofy script font with an easygoing attitude. A brushy script for anything that doesn’t take itself too seriously, Mikkel is the cheeky joker in TypeMates’ font library and the best buddy of expressive typography at large sizes.

And Mikkel is a double act. Along with its expressive connected script style, Mikkel has a ‘sans’ with a disconnected lowercase that allows it to pull off more tricks. As Mikkel’s script forms work their magic in logos and lettering, Mikkel Sans makes sure any additional text is clear and complementary.

Mikkel’s uppercase is pretty swashy so we designed its small caps to be a little more restrained for all caps settings — keeping Mikkel’s soul and providing typographic contrast. Smart OpenType features take Mikkel back to its lettering roots; alternate characters ensuring tricky combinations and double letters stay smooth, smart and sunny.

An exuberant and bouncy typeface that’s full of fun at large sizes, Mikkel is also serious when it comes to your workflow. With over 1000 glyphs per font, huge Latin language support, OpenType features to give text the flow of lively lettering and with many typographic goodies like small caps, oldstyle and tabular numerals, Mikkel’s got it where it counts.

Da capo! Mikkel is extended with cartoonish icons to spice it up! We do not want to praise this goofy brush script too much but, c’mon, if you like eating ice cream in the sun, go with Mikkel.

End User Licence Agreement

Desktop+Web Licence

Modern graphic design almost always involves design for print and screen — and that is why we came up with a licence that includes both desktop and web uses. Now you can install the fonts on your computer, use them in all your programmes (Microsoft office, Adobe software…) and at the same time you can embed the included WebFonts through @font-face technology in the corresponding web project.

The following is an agreement between you (the user/licencee) and the foundry TypeMates (licencer / TypeMates, J.Runge, N.Thomsen-Habermann, L.Fischbach GbR). If you do not accept these terms, you will not be able to purchase the font software licence and you may not use the fonts.

What you are purchasing from TypeMates is a licence to use our fonts (font software). You are purchasing the rights to use the fonts with respect to the following terms and conditions. You are not purchasing the copyright of the typeface.

Depending on the license, our fonts will be delivered in the following formats: OpenType (OTF), TrueType (TTF), as well as WebFont formats (EOT, WOFF, WOFF2). Additional formats are available on request, but may require an additional licence.

With the purchase or installation of our fonts you agree to the following:

You are allowed to install the fonts on your computer and embed them on websites via @font-face and make perpetual usage of the fonts.

You will be charged once, with the price based on the number of users and/or estimated pageviews per month that you require. Pageviews are time based, are not limited by geography, but pageviews must be for pages that belong to the same organisation/agency and all domains and sub-domains must belong to the licencee.

The use of this font is limited to the number of users and the number of pageviews detailed on the invoice you received with the purchase of the font. If you increase the number of users or pageviews beyond the number detailed on the invoice, you will lose the right to continue to use the fonts until you update your license to include additional users or pageviews.

You may embed the fonts in static documents (e.g. PDFs). However, you have to take care they are securely embedded (in read/print-only mode), ensuring the recipient cannot extract the fonts.

You may not convert the fonts to other font formats, nor may you modify, decompile or instruct a third party to convert, modify or decompile them. Nevertheless, you are allowed to subset our WebFonts.

You may make a back-up copy on a second computer. Registered users of www.typemates.com are, through their account, able to download fonts they have licenced at any time.

This licence is not transferable. In the event that you do not want to use the font, you may not give your rights of use or licence to a third party and you cannot sell, nor sub-licence the font licence or fonts.

You may not give the fonts to a person who does not own a licence for the font. (In special cases the fonts may be given to a printer, but they have to accept the licence and delete/uninstall the fonts after finishing the job)

You may not embed the fonts into an app, or eBook without a Smart Embedding licence. Contact us, or just purchase one directly in our shop.

You may not embed the fonts into hardware (for example: the displays of washing machines, toasters, or devices like a GPS navigator, eReader). To do that, you will need a custom licence and should contact us.

If the yearly net profit of the licencee exceeds EUR 15 million the licencee is not allowed to use our fonts in their logo, in television broadcasts, cinema movies or in internet streams. Furthermore the licencee may not use our fonts for products that reproduce letter shapes like, for example, house numbers, stamps, craft templates or punched letters. Usage of this sort requires an enlarged and customised licence and, if you are in doubt, contact us for more information.

Warranty and limitation of liability
TypeMates fonts can be returned or replaced only if they are defective. Defective fonts will be replaced if you have a valid proof of purchase and inform us about the error within 30 days of purchase. This warranty does not apply to font data that has been converted, manipulated or altered by you.
If not caused by gross negligence or malicious intent by us, TypeMates shall not be liable for any consequences, property or legal responsibility — including, but not limited to, lost profits and/or lost data — as a consequence of using our fonts.

Termination
Any violation of this agreement by you, the licensee, will terminate this license. In case of termination, you are obligated to immediately remove all our fonts and all copies from your system and certify this to us, the licensor.

Jurisdiction
This Agreement shall be governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany. This Agreement shall not be subject to the United Nations Convention on the International Sale of Goods, the application of which is expressly excluded.
The court of jurisdiction is in Passau, Germany.

Miscellaneous
TypeMates reserves the right to modify this license at any time without notice. However, it will not restrict your previously purchased rights within the license.
Should a regulation of this contract be invalid in whole or part, the validity of other regulations shall remain unaffected.

Smart Embedding Licence

Whether it’s an iOS application, Android or ePub: our Smart Embedding licence allows you to embed the fonts in any application (e.g. App, eBook or SmartWatch), as long as it’s part of the same project and will not exceed the limits of the licence.
In addition to the Smart Embedding licence, we will give you one User Desktop Licence to test the fonts during the pre-coding design process.

With the purchase or installation of our fonts you agree to the following:

You may embed the fonts in an app or eBook. It does not matter what kind of mobile platform or device is used; nor does it matter whether the app is made for iOS, Android or Windows phone, or the eBook a dynamic PDF, EPUB 2.01 or a KF8 format and make perpetual usage of the fonts.

You will be charged once, with the price based on the quantity of embed projects you require in total for your embedding products. The embed projects are not limited by geography, but all applications using the fonts must represent a single project.

The use of this font is limited to the number embed projects detailed on the invoice you received with the purchase of the font. If your work sells way better than expected and there are more projects to design with our font than detailed on the invoice, you will lose the right to continue to use the fonts until you update your license to include additional embed projects.

You may install the fonts on one computer to use and test it in your layouts and to make mockups of your application. If you want to use the font for other projects on your computer, you will need to purchase a proper Desktop+Web licence.

You must embed the fonts in a secure way, so that no one else may export or use the fonts.

You may make a back-up copy on a second computer. Registered users of www.typemates.com are, through their account, able to download fonts they have licenced at any time.

You may not convert the fonts to other font formats, nor may you modify, decompile or instruct a third party to convert, modify or decompile them.

Server Licence

Automation saves time and money, so this licence will cost a bit more compared to a Desktop+Web licence for humans. The Server licence allows you to install our fonts on a server to automatically generate invoices, business cards, PDF documents or other personalised products. With this license html5 campaigns are possible.

With the purchase or installation of our fonts you agree to the following:

You may install our fonts on a server in order to use them via software that automatically generates documents, but you are not allowed to give other users access to download the fonts from this server to a computer and make perpetual usage of the fonts.

You will be charged once with the price based on the number of servers you will install them on. The server licence is not limited by geography, so long as the server(s) belong(s) to the same licencee.

The use of this font is limited to the number of servers detailed on the invoice you received with the purchase of the font. If the fonts are installed on more servers than detailed on the invoice, you will lose the right to continue to use the fonts until you update your license to include the additional servers.

The fonts can also be used for an html5 campaign. For this, the web fonts must be securely embedded.

You may not convert the fonts to other font formats, nor may you modify, decompile or instruct a third party to convert, modify or decompile them.

You may make a back-up copy on a second computer. Registered users of www.typemates.com are, through their account, able to download fonts they have licenced at any time.

You may not give the fonts to a person who does not own a licence for the font.

You may not install server-licensed fonts on a desktop computer, nor embed them into a webpage, without the Desktop+Web licence.
