Interbrand Cologne had a clear vision for modernising the look of one of the most famous football clubs. We helped to complete the new brand identity for FC Bayern München with custom type.

Seeking to inspire with success, FC Bayern München has always defined itself through its traditional roots and international ambitions. Their guiding principle “tradition meets the modern era”, as Head of Brand Management Philipp Mokrohs points out, creates “two worlds that collide, becoming tangible in tonality, contrasting imagery and a clashing typography”.

With this new positioning, the redesign convinces with an optimised logo, a newly-developed typeface, contrasting visual worlds and a clear design concept. Today FC Bayern Sans features seven styles from light to bold plus condensed. For forceful headlines, we added an outline variant and there are more ideas to come.
